Greg Mannarino (aka GM) has been referred to as “The Robin Hood of Wall Street.”  He is an active and full time trader of the capital markets with a world-wide following.  He is the author of the book “A (NOT) So Random Walk On Wall Street.”  He also hosts a very popular YouTube blog.

Greg opens the episode by talking about his wide ranging path from working in auto repair shops, street racing and driving cabs to  a Physician’s assistant and now a full time trader.  He says he’s always been fascinated about how things work.

Greg says he’s always been fascinated by the equity markets.  Years ago, he allowed others to manage his money.  When the 2008 and 2009 financial meltdown happened, he lost all of his money.  He was deeply bothered by the fact that so many people lost so much.  This is what brought him back into the markets and motivated him to start his popular blog.

When it comes to understanding the fundamentals of the markets, people often focus on the wrong drivers.  He says to focus on  the debt market and more specifically the 10 year yield.  This will tell you where the markets are going.

A big theme on Greg’s show is to “raise your awareness.”  He says the first step is to pay attention and look beyond the distractions and the noise.  The next step is to connect with like-minded people.

In the end, Greg shares his most important message of all: “love each other, care about each other and be charitable.”  For GM, this is the real key and if we do these things, we will all be better off!
